TREE PLANTING!

The Eco Club, the Head Boy and Head Girl and the Year 5 School Councillors went on a trip to the Ickwell Nature Reserve. The purpose of this trip was to learn about conservation and to plant trees.

We went for a walk first and saw wild animals such as field mice and voles. After that, we planted some sweet-chestnut trees. We had to put a stake in the ground to support the tree. We used a tree guard so animals wouldn’t eat it.

We learned that Ash trees get a disease which is called ASH DIE-BACK! This kills these trees. We removed some small dead ash trees.

Then we planted some bushes to create a new hedgerow so that it can  grow into a future habitat for little animals.

Have a look HERE for some photos from the day.
