SHEDDING SOME LIGHT ON YEAR 3 SCIENCE!

In science the children have started investigating light. The children have learnt about light sources and that darkness is the absence of light.

The children had fun writing secret messages and using the magic of reflection to reveal them using mirrors.

We have learnt the importance of protecting ourselves in the sunlight and children became budding entrepreneurs designing sunhats and sunglasses.

Most recently, children investigated changes in shadows depending on the distance of the light source. For their experiment children used a torch to shine on a glue stick near a wall. Using a ruler, they then measured the shadow created. The children then moved the torch to different distances measuring the shadows and recorded their results into a table.

The findings showed us that the closer to the light source an object is, the bigger the shadow will be and this is due to the object blocking more light.
