MEASUREMENT AND SHAPE!

Recently in maths, we have been looking at measurement and shape.

We have estimating the length of objects and measuring them to find the actual measure. Before Easter, we focussed on shape. When we were studying shape, we investigated the different properties of both 2D and 3D shapes. We investigated the properties of 2D shapes and drew out different 2D shapes.

It was also important for us to look at different types of lines that shapes have. Some have parallel and perpendicular lines. Parallel lines are lines that never meet. They always stay the same distance apart and perpendicular lines are lines that meet at right angles. We learnt about the different numbers of faces, edges, vertices that different 3D shapes have. After this, we had a go at making the 3D shapes. We used art straws for the edges and joined them together using playdough.

We made some brilliant 3D shapes that helped us to see the different properties. They can be seen HERE.
