we are READY TO LEARN in year 2!

It is so lovely to be back in Year 2.  We have had lots of time to share news with our friends and have already done so much learning.

In maths we have been exploring numbers, looking at how they are made.  Did you know that 64 is made up of 6 tens and 4 ones or that you can get all sort of number lines... some go up in ones, some in tens and some we have looked at don't even start at 1!

We are working on our 2, 5,10 and 3 times tables in Year 2 so it would be great if grown up's could help with these at home.  There are some great games to make learning fun such as https://mathsframe.co.uk/ .

We have been reading the book 'The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs' in English.  It's the traditional tale from Al Wolfs perspective. In this story the wolf is the good character and the pigs are not so nice.  We have talked about who's side of the story we believe and why.  Today we even wrote a letter to 'Al' in prison asking all of the questions that we wanted him to answer to help us decide who we believed.

The first two weeks of term are also our 'getting ready to learn fortnight'. We have completed some fun activities to get us used to being in school again and to remind us how much we really do enjoy being with our friends and the adults.  So far we have gone outside and searched for treasure using maps to help us, made our own board games, discussed how to be a good learner and class mate, created portraits and thought about 5 special things about ourselves that make us unique.
