LADYBIRDS!

This week Anya has written a blog about ladybirds after noticing rather a lot of them on the plants in her garden!

Last week we saw ladybirds at different stages of their lifecycle in our garden.
The ladybird starts off as an egg. It hatches into a larva. The larva likes to eat little flies called aphids. When it has grown big, it turns into a pupa (a bit like a cocoon). The ladybird hatches out of the pupa and lies in the sun. It’s shell goes darker and it gets spots.

In the photos you can see a larva on Anya’s hand, two pupae attached to a leaf, and a newly hatched ladybird.
