ART IN YEAR 3

Year 3 have just finished their first artist study of the year.

We began the year sketching and studying different techniques that we can use when sketching. Throughout the year, we will use these techniques to sketch in the style of various artists. We also looked at sketching in proportion. To build our skills in this, we were given half of a portrait and had to sketch the other half.

Recently, we have studied an artist called Roy Lichtenstein. He was one of the key figures in the Pop Art movement. He was very popular during the early 1960’s and was famous for his particular style. Comic books were hugely inspiring to him, as were the objects around him. In his work, the use of colour and different textures is prominent.

Our next artist study will be on William Morris
