HISTORY, MATHS AND ROBIN HOOD!

The children in Year 3 have enjoyed their work in maths and English over the last few weeks

English has seen the children begin to create their very own adventure story based on Robin Hood. They created some fantastic story boards to show the 5 parts of their narratives – beginning, build up, problem, resolution and ending. Each has created their own hero, villain and setting whilst including direct speech, powerful adjectives and new vocabulary within their writing.

In maths, children have begun to transfer their knowledge of the expanded column method and use it to multiply a 2-digit number by a 1digit number.

The children have really thrown themselves into our history lessons. They have learnt about life in the stone-age and began by making their own cave paintings using their hands and portraying a hunter gatherer. We then moved onto learning about what Bedford was like during the stone-age, they particularly enjoyed learning that the High Street would have been covered by a shallow sea in which sea monsters would have lived.
