Week commencing Tuesday 2nd May

Welcome to the Reception blog!

This week we have been practising counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and have also enjoyed exploring weighing objects with our balance scales and using the appropriate mathematical vocabulary!  In our phonic sessions we have been blending our sounds and practising writing words and sentences using the sound of the day.  We have also learned facts about eggs from our book of the week, 'An Egg is Quiet', e.g. a hummingbird's egg is the size of a jelly bean!

Next week our book focus is 'Farmer Duck' by Martin Waddell and we will be attempting to write some of the story in our own words.  In our mathematics we will be practising addition and subtraction calculations. Our outdoor games will focus on team games and we will be exploring strong shapes in our gymnastics.
