YEAR 5 JULY!

Tempus Fugit – time flies and time has certainly flown since our first Yr5 day back in September. Both classes have enjoyed a whole curriculum of amazing topics that have certainly provided the fuel for some brilliant discussions.
Many of the activities will have been lost to the fog of time, but looking back over the year maybe the children can still remember the sporting activities we did in PE and in trips around Bedford. The Hakka is certainly one activity that comes to mind. Plus, the multi-sports trip to Westfield School where the children did brilliantly against some older and more practiced competition.
Our science has led to some great discussions about – literally - life, the universe and everything! The classes really enjoyed the space topic we looked at. History and geography have also provided immense scope for topic discussion – from the Tudors and Stewarts to St Lucia and Fairtrade.
In art and DT, we have looked at a variety of artists and created some wonderful pictures. The marble run project earlier this year, is a key activity that many will remember. The models that the class built received a golden seal of approval from the only experts whose opinion really matter – the reception children!
Our core subjects of English and maths have provided a firm backbone for further learning both in Yr6 and in secondary school and it is a scary thought for mums and dads that this Yr5 cohort will be entering into KS3 in 14 months’ time...
Looking back to the end of 2024, we had both class assemblies and I know that parents really enjoyed that insight into the future career aspirations of 5D and into what 5L consider to be the most important school values.
From myself and Miss Lowdon, we wish the children all the very best for the future and for you, the parents and adults of this amazing year group, we wish you a relaxing and chilled summer break.
Good luck in Yr6!
