A Month Full of Fun and Learning!

What a fantastic month we've had in Nursery!

We've been busy playing simple games and completing puzzles in small groups, helping us to practise taking turns and working together as a team. These activities are a great way to build social skills and strengthen friendships.

Our Nursery Rhyme of the Week was ‘Down in the Jungle’, which had us singing, clapping, and moving to the rhythm—such a fun way to build language and listening skills!

We loved listening to the story ‘Lucy and Tom at the Seaside’ by Shirley Hughes. It sparked some lovely conversations about the seaside—what we might see, hear, and do while we’re there. The children had so many fantastic ideas to share!

Our new Talk for Writing story is ‘We’re Going on a Dragon Hunt’, and the children have already been joining in with actions and words. It’s wonderful to see their storytelling confidence grow.

We’ve also been busy practising name recognition and writing. Using magnetic letters to build our names was a hit, and we’ve been developing our pencil grips while writing them too.

In maths, we focused on linking numerals to quantities, using lots of hands-on resources to help make these connections fun and meaningful.

Creativity has been flowing in the art area—this week we made octopuses and explored marble painting, producing some truly colourful results!

Our curiosity led us to explore technology with the Bee-Bots, where we experimented with directions and simple programming. There was also a chilly challenge as we worked together to rescue sea animals frozen in ice blocks—a fun, hands-on way to learn about the world around us.

And to top it all off, we had an amazing time at the Gumbles Fayre! The excitement and joy was infectious—thank you to everyone who helped make it such a special event.

We’re so proud of all the children for their enthusiasm and creativity this month. We wish you a safe and wonderful Summer holiday!
