DIPS AND DIPPERS

In Design and Technology this term we are learning about food, especially dips and dippers.

We have been learning what it means to eat a balanced diet and understanding why it is important that we eat a range of different food groups. We have learnt that carbohydrates give us energy and that proteins help our muscles and brains to grow strong. We have discussed our favourite foods and our least favourite foods and have begun to consider how we can stay healthy.

We had a really fun lesson, where we tried different dips and dippers. We tried guacamole, salsa, sour cream and chive and hummus. Lots of us really like hummus and salsa but we found the sour cream and chive a bit too strong. We also tried cucumber, carrot, breadsticks, wafers, crackers and tortilla chips. We really liked all of these!

In the next couple of weeks we will be making some classic dips and then we will be mixing our own ingredients to create our own dip, which we will bring home to share with you! How exciting!
