Let’s go fly a kite

During the Autumn term, Year 3 have learnt all about kites.

The children began by looking at the different parts of a kite and what the function of each part is. The children looked at the many styles of kites from a Rokkaku to a Delta and looked at the pros and cons of each type.

It then got to the good bit where children began to make a design criteria and then design their own kite.

We ended our first week back in 2023 by making our kites. Children used wooden dowels, bin bags, tape and string and followed instructions to create their kites. Unfortunately, the weather was not kind and due to little wind we did not have great success in flying them…but we certainly had fun trying!
