Violent volcanoes

As part of our Swords and Sandals topic we have being looking at the story of Pompeii.

In 79 BC Mount Vesuvius in Italy erupted.  Athick cloud of ash, stone and poisonous gases rained down on the town of Pompeii, which stood in the path of the eruption and it was covered in just a few hours.

In art this week we tried to imagine what a real life volcano must look like.  We decided it must be a spectacular sight with lots of colour, noise and heat.  We also had a think about what a sleeping volcano must look like and what might be growing around it.

When we had a picture in our head we used pastels to create our volcano onto black paper.  We think our pictures look amazing... click HERE and let us know what you think?
