Week commencing Monday 24th April 2017

Welcome to the first Reception blog of the summer term!

This week we have been very busy honing our estimating skills and the children are beginning to understand the difference between an estimate and a guess.  We have also worked hard on developing our creative writing skills and have practised writing in sentences.  The story of Jemima Puddleduck has been very popular with the children and has definitely stood the test of time!

Next week we have a non-fiction focus with 'An Egg is Quiet' by Dianna Aston. We will also be comparing raw, poached and hard boiled eggs.  In our mathematics we will be counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.  Alongside this we will be looking at the work of Faberge and the children will be decorating their own eggs.

Over the weekend, it would be brilliant if the children could identify different items of technology in their homes and discuss their uses.  If you could send the children's responses in to school to share with their friends it would be greatly appreciated!
